What is this Conference?

Inclusive Vocational Rehabilitation is an approach seeking to address the training needs of all youth and adults, with a specific focus on those who are vulnerable to marginalisation and exclusion. Access and Quality at Salamanca, 1994. It was reemphasised and elaborated upon in the UNCRPD of 2006, in which India was one of the member countries to ratify. The Right to Education Act, 2009, mandates free and compulsory Education for all children from 6 to 14 years of age. It emphasised that every child in our country has the right to Education.

The key objective of RTE is the universalisation of elementary Education, which emphasises access, enrollment, and retention of all children aged 6 to 14 years. This goal has been further facilitated by the 86th Amendment to the Constitution, which makes free and compulsory elementary Education a fundamental Right for all children with special needs. With this, the concept of inclusive Education has been popularised in the education system. With the enactment of the RPwD Act, 2016, a legal status has been ascribed to inclusive Education, and emphasis is given to the fact that no child can be denied admission in neighbourhood schools on the grounds of disability.
